Zuppler introduces features to provide extra-level security
In the virtual world, stealing someone's identity to create a fake account for running scams and frauds is common. The time invested is minimal and the cost is almost nil. But what does one do to deal with this? A lot of big names like Google, Facebook, Microsoft, and Twitter have found a simple two step solution - 1) verify phone number ownership during account creation 2) use them at the login stage to confirm the identity of the returning user.
This simple feature is customizable and can be combined with added security benefits. Apart from being global in reach, it's extremely user friendly. Minimal steps makes it a favorable choice for customer identification and validation.
Zuppler, recently introduced a new customer Identity validation feature to help provide increased security to its clients.
The new Customer Identify feature was put into place to help:
1. Reduce Chargebacks
The main need of this feature is due to uptick in the chargeback requests. Fraudulent transactions coming from stolen credit cards with ease of faking email and/or phone number without the risk of being tracked made it mandatory to add enhanced security features.
2. Minimize exploitation of “one-time discount”
Another reason that led to the introduction of this feature was consumers gaming the system to exploit the one-time use discounts. Creation of an account in Zuppler required users to validate a new account through email which would make it simpler to configure multiple accounts (via different email addresses) in order to take advantage of a discount.
How does it work?
With Customer Identity validation feature, one can now configure both payment tenders and discounts to be set as “trusted”. When enabled, the system will require the customer to validate the phone number at the point of checkout. This will send a verification code that the customer will need to input before being able to checkout.
