I am starting a group order and I need to know more

What is group ordering all about?

The best way to explain group ordering is with an example. Let's say there is a meeting at your work place and all of you decide to make it a lunch meeting. There is someone designated to take down what everyone wants. So they walk around writing down their order and ends up placing the order. It works but this is not the most efficient way. Right?

Group Ordering makes this easy. The organizer starts a group order and forwards the email to other members to join and order. People join the order, figure out what they want and they are done. Once everyone in the group make their selection, the organizer checks out, pays and places the order. Fast, easy and convenient.

Substitute your lunch meeting with a season finale party, Sunday Night Football or just a casual get together at your place. Group ordering works in all these scenarios Smiley

All this sounds great, but how do I start a group order?

You start by selecting the restaurant you want to order from. On the menu page for that restaurant, you will see a link "Start Group Order". Click on it, enter the required information and hit start. Your group order is underway.

On the "Start Group Order" page, it asks for the email. Should I enter the email of each member in my group?

No. You just enter your name and email. Once you start the group order, we will send you a confirmation to that email with a link to your group order.

OK, so now I have started the group order. But how am I going to have others join my group? You did not ask me that information?

Once you start the group order, you will be taken back to the menu page of the restaurant and you will see the group order URL. Something that looks like http://bit.ly/<code>. You would also receive an email with a link to your group order. You can simply forward that email to the members in your group. If you use IM or any other tool to communicate with people, simply copy and paste the group order URL on the chat and invite people to join. We figured that is much easier for you than having to type a whole bunch of email addresses when starting the group order Smiley

OMG! I already started my group order and people started ordering but I forgot to invite my boss. What do I do????

Relax! People can join your group anytime during the ordering process as long as you have not yet checked out. So, go ahead and send your boss the email invite and let him know it was a special invite Smiley

Great! Now my group order has started. But I have to sit and wait until everyone is done ordering. I cannot browse to other sites?

Once the group order starts and you have communicated the link to others, you are free to do what you want. Check out the latest scores, read the news or just shut your computer and take a walk Smiley When you are ready to place the order, click on the link we emailed you to join back your group order and checkout. Just make sure you join with the same email you used to create the order.

This is sweet! How do I know if others have joined my group order and that they are done ordering?

If you stay on the menu page (or join back), you will see everyone who is ordering in your group. As they make their selections, your cart will automatically update showing their selection. While they are ordering, the status will appear as "ordering". When they are done ordering, the status will change to "ready". When everyone is done ordering, the checkout button will get enabled to let you pay and place the order.

Cool. I am really getting this group order thing. But I invited 5 people and I see only 3 of them ordering. Where are the rest?

We don't track of who you are inviting to your group order. Once someone joins your group order, we can track their selections and the status. So, if you sent the link to 5 people and only 3 of them show up in your cart then the other 2 have not yet joined your order.

Got it! Now I invited my girl friend to join my group order and she ended up inviting her ex boyfriend. I am in no mood to pay for his order. What do I do?

Ah! Even in such rare instances, we have a solution for you Smiley If you mouse over the ex boyfriends name, there will be a X button that will show up. Just click on the X button to kick the person out of your group. The ex boyfriend will return to the normal mode but his selections are not lost. He can continue with his order. Just that you will not be paying for the order.

When I started the group order, I typed a message and asked everyone to keep their order to less than $20. Joe Schmo ended up ordering for $28. What do I do.

You started the group order so you should have all the power right Smiley You have the option to remove any item from any of the group members selection. So, tough luck Joe Schmo. You will be removing a couple of items from his selection.

We are placing the order as a group but we need to file our expenses separately. How will other members in my group get their order details?

When you place the order, you will get an email with the complete order with everyone's order selections and the group order total. Every member in your group will also receive an email with their order details. So, if each of you want to file your expense report separately, you can still do this.

I started the group order but I want to switch back to the normal mode. How do I do this?

If you started a group order and you have not invited anyone then you are a group order of 1 = normal mode. If you invited a few people who joined the order and you no longer want to own the group order and switch to the normal mode then you have 3 options

  • - Request others who joined the group order to leave the group
  • - Kick the people out of your group
  • - Or just close the browser and re-open it (without joining back the group order). Just make sure that you let the members who joined the group know that you will no longer be placing the order as a group.

I started the group order so I am forced to pay for everyone's order?

If you started the group order, then you are responsible to checkout, pay and place the order. Others just make their selection. You always have the option to select cash as the payment option and everyone chips in their share.

Can we pick different delivery locations for different members in my group.

Not at this point although we may consider doing this if there is a need. Right now, you control the delivery type, location, time and the payment option. Members in your group just need to make their order selection.

Can different members in my group order from different restaurants?

Not right now. All members in your group order from the restaurant you selected and invited them from. You can always create separate group orders for different restaurants and invite different people to join.

How does Zupp Points and Zupp Bucks work with group orders?

You started the group order so you earn the bucks and points. Your members help you earn more bucks and points Smiley

I have been invited to join a group order and I need to know more

I got this link from Jane Doe to join her group order. What is this and what do I need to do?

Click on the link to join Jane Doe's group order and make your selection and click on done. She has invited you to be a part of her group order and has offered to pay for your order. Don't miss out Smiley

I made my selections and I understand what the "Done" button does. What does the "Leave" button do?

For whatever reason if you decide not to be a part of the group order after joining the group, just click on "Leave" and return to the normal mode.

Damn! I clicked on the "Leave" button by mistake. What do I do? I cannot be a part of the order anymore.

Don't panic! You can always click on the link that was sent to you and join the order again. And guess what, your selections are not lost. You can click on Done and all is well.

Once I click on Done, will I get an email with my order details?

You will receive an email once the person who started this order goes ahead and places the order. When you get the email, you know that the order has been placed.

Cool! This is straightforward. So, I should go ahead and join, make my selections and click on Done?

If you are hungry and you need the food to reach you on time, I would do just that Smiley

How do I know that the order I placed online is being acted on and not just lying in someone’s Inbox?

When you order online through us, there is an automatic Fax and Email sent to the restaurant. We follow this up with a phone call and confirm that the order is being processed.

So rest assured your order will be taken care. Smiley

Are the prices on your website the same as the restaurant price?

Absolutely! Our prices are the exact same prices as the restaurant prices. In fact you end up saving money through our exclusive discounts.

Do I need to register to order online?

Nope. There is no need for you to sign up to order online. However, if you do become a member of a Zuppler Community then you can avail exclusive discounts when you order online.

I was trying to order online and I picked a time when the restaurant was open. However, the system did not let me order and said “The restaurant is not open for ordering.” How come?

The system accounts for the food preparation time (this varies with restaurant) and also delivery time. So, even though the restaurant is open, your order may not be ready at the specified time. You may want to choose a later time.

How will I know if the restaurant delivers to my address?

If you mouse over “Delivery Info” in the restaurant listing, you get an idea of the areas that the restaurant delivers. Also, when you order online, the system will check if the restaurant delivers to your address or not. If the system accepts the address and you are able to order online then the restaurant will deliver your order.

Who should I contact if my order is wrong or if the food is cold etc?

We Fax the order that you place online to the restaurant so there should be no ambiguity with it. What you see in your email is what they see in their Fax. However, in case the order was not what you placed then it is best you contact the restaurant directly. Make sure you provide them with the order confirmation code.

However, we would also be glad to assist you in such exceptions and help resolve the order with the restaurant.

I did not find my favorite restaurant on your website. How come?

While we are adding restaurants at break neck speed, prioritizing them is difficult. If you do like to see your favorite restaurant online, please do us a favor and contact the restaurant and ask them to register online. We give online registrations the top priority.

Make sure you ask the restaurant to mention you as the referral and we will treat for you lunch for the help Smiley

Order Cancellation

What is your cancellation and refund policy?

You can cancel any order that is outside the 2 hour window of the delivery or pick up time. You will get a full refund on your cancelled orders.

How can I cancel the order?

There are 2 ways to cancel your order

  • You can login in go to "My Account" and click on "details" on the order you want to cancel. In the details page, there will be a link for you to cancel your order.
  • The order confirmation email we send you will have a link to the "details" page from where the order can be cancelled

My order is inside the 2 hour window but something has come up and I need to cancel it. What should I do?

Hmmm. This is a problem. You cannot do it from the system. Call our customer care rep at 1888 ZUPPLER and they may be able to help you. Make sure that you have the order code with you for them to look the order up.

Once I place an order is it possible to change it?

You cannot modify a confirmed order. However, if it is outside the 2 hour window, you can cancel and re-order.

Zupp Bucks

What is Zupp Bucks?

The best way to explain Zupp Bucks is with an example. Let's say a restaurant is giving you 10% Zupp Bucks. This means 10% of your food and beverage (before tax, tips, delivery charge) order amount is credited back into your account for this restaurant.So, if your order total is $20, then you earn $2 Zupp Bucks from the restaurant for this order.

How do I use my Zupp Bucks?

You accumulate Zupp Bucks as you order online from a restaurant that offers you this. Once you have sufficient Zupp Bucks, then you can pay for your order using your Zupp Bucks. The system will deduct the order total from your earned Zupp Bucks for the restaurant.

Can I use Zupp Bucks earned at one restaurant to order from a different restaurant?

No Smiley Zupp Bucks are tracked for each restaurant. Zupp Bucks earned form one restaurant can be used only to order from that restaurant. They are non transferable.

Do my Zupp Bucks expire?

Zupp Bucks do not have an expiration period.

Can I pay for my partial order using my Zupp Bucks?

Nope, you cannot pay partially using Zupp Bucks and partially using Cash or Credit for an order.

Where do I see my earned Zupp Bucks?

You can view your earned Zupp Bucks from restaurants under the My Account section.

Zupp Points

How do I earn Zupp Points?

You earn Zupp Points for different things you do on the site. E.G: You place an order online, you earn Zupp Points, tweet it and you earn more points. Write a review you earn points, tweet it and you earn even more :)

How do I use my Points?

You can use your points earned to pay for your future order. This will be one of the payment options that you can use to pay for the order.

How much are my points worth?

This varies based on different promotions we will run at different points. At the least, 100 points = 10 cents. During our periodic promotions, these points can be worth a lot more.

Where can I view how many Zupp Points I have?

You can view your total earned Zupp Points under the "My Account" tab.

How are Zupp Points different from Zupp Bucks?

Zupp Points earned can be used at any of our partnered restaurants. Zupp Bucks earned from a given restaurant can ONLY be used at that restaurant.

Discounts

The system did not let me apply the discount when I was placing my order. PLEASE HELP!!

There are 3 possible reasons for this:
  • You did not hit the minimum order limit: The discount could have a validity based on certain minimum order amount. Like: "10% off orders more than $15". So, you need to order at least $15 to apply that discount. When that minimum order amount is hit, the system will automatically enable the "apply" button.
  • It is a first time user discount: This discount is only applicable if you are a registered user and you are ordering for the very first time from the restaurant.
  • It is a promo discount: This discount is offered as part of special marketing promotions that restaurants run. There is a special promo code you need to enter which will be specified to people who receive that marketing campaign.

Why do I need to be a registered user to apply the first time user discount?

We need a way to track if the user has already ordered online from the restaurant so you are required to register first :(

There was a "promo" button next to the discount I was trying to use. What in the world is that?

This is a promotion discount offered by restaurants as part of their marketing promotion. To apply this discount you need to enter the promo code that the restaurant gave out.

The discount said "for pickup only. What is that?

Some discounts defined can only be applied on pickup orders. So, if you choose delivery then the discount will automatically be removed.

Credit Card Payments

I entered my credit card information and clicked on "Place my Order" and the system said unable to process my request and did not place the order. Why??

There could be different reasons for this but the main ones are:
  • Your billing address did not match: The billing address with your credit card does not match the billing address you entered. Check with the bank to see what billing address is being used. The system will not let you proceed if they do not match.
  • The CVV digit code is not correct: Make sure that the CVV code matches what you entered.
  • Sometimes (although this is very rare) the payment gateway did not respond back on time. If you do not see any other error on the page then just click "Place my Order" once again and it should go through.
If you scroll through the page, more details about the error would be explained in red. Once you fix the error, click "Place my Order" once again and the transaction will go through.

I see 2 charges from Zuppler for my order. Help!

Rest assured you were not charged twice :) Let me explain this with an example. Let's say you entered your credit card information but your CVV code was wrong and you clicked on Place my Order. What happens is that your bank records the transaction but with the status "declined" or "rejected" indicating not to charge you for this. So, now you fix the CVV code and place your order and you see another entry but this time with a success status. You do end up seeing 2 transactions in your bank account but one was actually rejected. When your bank posts your transaction, it will automatically ignore the transaction that was rejected and not charge you twice. I hope I made it clear and not confuse you :)

I went ahead and canceled my order after paying with my credit card. How much will I get back in refund and by when?

You will get a FULL refund on your canceled order. We process the refund at the same time of your cancellation and the money should be posted back to your account within 3 business days.
